Synopsis:
He was once a captive, but his urges were never caged. Now he’ll release them on a beautiful stranger whose own secret desires are longing to be sated… He doesn’t have a name. He doesn’t have a clan. The humans who held him prisoner for forty years have taken them away. He knew nothing but captivity until nearly a year ago, when he was released into the light. Now Tiger lives in the Austin Shiftertown, where he struggles to belong and searches for an identity. Carly Randal thinks her fabulous life is complete—until her car breaks down on the side of the road, and a wild-looking Shifter is the only one to help her. Tiger takes one look at Carly and knows instantly—she will be his mate. As Carly is drawn into his Shifter world, she risks everything she has for that forbidden something she still wants: passionate love.
Review:
I recently got into the Shifters Unbound series by Jennifer Ashley. I discovered it on Goodreads and after reading book one, I was hooked.
In this world, Shifters made themselves known to humans to survive the changing times. They in turn rounded them up, placed Collars on them that emit shocks to them when they start to get aggressive, and secluded them to Shiftertowns. They're not accepted into human society in the least.
In Tiger Magic, we follow the story of Tiger who lived most of his life inside a lab as an experiment. He was rescued a few books back and has since been struggling to adapt into the Austin Shiftertown. He's out and about doing some running when he comes across Carly Randall when she's broken down on the side of the road. He helps to fix her car and she flirts a little. She's thinking it's all harmless. And he's got one word on his mind: mate.
I love Tiger. He's so straightforward and blunt, it's refreshing. His past makes him someone to sympathize with even if at times he goes a little too far in protecting someone. You can't hate him.
And Carly. Oh boy, is she just a funny girl. And brave. She had me in stitches and cheering for her at times.
The 'magic' of this book is that it hooks you from page one and keeps you turning the pages until you finally know how and when Carly and Tiger are together without complications.
The best part? You can just read this book or read the entire series like I did. Your choice. (*whispers* read the entire series)
